Mitchell Altschuler
| | University of IllinoisMitchell Altschuler is an intellectual property officer at the University of Illinois. He will work to identify and extract inventions from the TERRA-MEPP project while safeguarding the project’s intellectual property. Mitchell most recently served as the Energy Biosciences Institute (EBI), IP manager at the University of California, Berkeley for seven years. This position involved coordinating IP from not only Berkeley, but IP contributions from two other institutions as well, including Lawrence Berkeley Labs and Illinois. Before working at the EBI, Altschuler was an Intellectual Asset Manager and IP manager for Cargill Incorporated and the University of Minnesota. He has his master’s degree and doctorate in biology from the University of Albany, and was a tenured faculty member in biology at Northern Illinois University for over 10 years.
