'TerraSentia,' An R2-D2 For Farmers?
Engineers at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign want to transform the way farmers collect data out on their fields.
The idea is that more data equals better crop yields, and to improve data-gathering, U of I Agricultural and Biological Engineering Professor Girish Chowdhary and his team are working on developing a robot called the TerraSentia.
According to Chowdhary, the TerraSentia robot can help support farmers in the work that they do. It’s lightweight and nimble, and it can collect data automatically, which is a process that is otherwise time-consuming and expensive.
Chowdhary joined us on the show today to talk further about the TerraSentia robot and its main purpose.
